LEGO Robotics sessions: Roving the Red Planet

Traverse the rocky landscape of Mars in an educator-led session on robotics! Build and code a LEGO Mars Rover to drive over the Martian surface, before racing other crews through a Martian maze to the finish line (robot building is done in teams of three).

There will be spot prizes for the most inventive, manoeuvrable, and quickest robots. After the race, enjoy one of our most popular shows, Mars 1001, followed by a water rocket demonstration (weather/wind permitting). 

$35 per child with accompanying adult free of charge. $20 for Starlight Explorer members.
(Children under 14 years old must have a supervising adult with them at all times).
Recommended for ages 7+ | Duration: 150mins

Bottle rocket launches: times now listed

Join us on our outdoor launch pad, against the beautiful backdrop of Maungakiekie One Tree Hill for exciting bottle rocket demonstrations! Bottle rocket launches now run on selected dates and times, starting from 10 December 2024.*
No ticket required - these are FREE with all planetarium shows or gallery entry! Check out launch times here.
*please note, just like the real thing, our rocket launches are dependent on the conditions, and may have to be aborted in the event of bad weather!

Bookings highly recommended for school holiday shows, all shows are subject to availability. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of sessions.
